In the early 1940's Clarence S. Martin had a dump-truck operation hauling sand, gravel, coal and topsoil.
In 1946, Mr. Martin saw a need for trash hauling service in Medina County and was one of the first to establish a one day route.
Around 1963, Mr Martin's great-nephew, Curtis Perkins, age 9, would ride along and help load and unload trucks after school and continued doing so throughout junior high and high school.
In 1972, Mr. Martin purchased his first brand new compactor garbage truck.
After graduating in 1973 Curtis joined the blossoming company full time. After several years of working together, Curtis knew his Uncle Clarence was wanting to retire.
Curtis couldn't bear the thought of a stranger taking over the family business and decided to purchase the company. He and his wife Patricia became the owners of C.Martin Trucking and it's 3 garbage trucks in January 1985.
To date, C.Martin Trucking has evolved into an established company offering an array of non-hazardous waste removal services in the Northeastern Ohio area. The company has grown to 18 radio-dispatched trucks and nineteen employees.
Curtis R. Perkins is mentoring his four children and son-in-law to carry on old and new traditions of the long living family business.
He instills the philosphy of: "We can only surmise that hard work, deep family traditions, and the loyalty of our customers for all that has been achieved."
The company's motto puts a huge grin on the face of everyone who hears it.
"Satisfaction guaranteed or double your garbage back."
